Before I plough head-first straight into Winter (I know, I know, its already December..be patient with me) I wanted to share a little project I whipped up in November. Our friends Jane and Neill were lovely enough to invite us to be a part of their big day last year, to share with them in their beautiful autumn themed wedding on the 10th November (which incidentally was 10.11.12 – how cool is that!)
I wanted to keep the Autumn theme from the wedding, play around with my scrapbooking supplies and make them a card to celebrate their first year as a married couple. I found a lot of inspiration on-line which sparked a thousand ideas and I got stuck in.
I started by cutting out little felt leaves in Autumn colours and matching and complimenting those Autumn colours in scrapbooking paper strips, edged with a thin red ribbon (red was a theme in their wedding) I added this ribbon using my Xyron Sticker Maker, which is one of my favourite and handy tools on my desk!
I had some leftover paper flowers from my summer scrapbooking but they were in pinks and yellows so I coloured them orange, brown and red with Letraset Promarkers which seeped into the paper beautifully and looked as if they were always that colour. I held them together with a Copper coloured stripy brad and then glued this on top of my scrapbook paper stripes so that I didn’t have to punch the straight through and have to cover the ugly hole on the inside of the card.
I then finished off the blank corner with these super cute little boy and girl wood veneers and the ‘Love’ wood veneer disc that are both from Studio Calico (I am totally obsessed with these)
Then, after mapping out in pencil, added alpha stickers for the main part of the card and used them to create a run down of the amount of time they had been married so far. I love the glitter numbers which are ‘Anita’s Glitterations’ number stickers in Silver which I picked up form Hobbycraft and really love the letter stickers by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts. I love how versatile they are and how because they are transparent letter stickers you can layer them or use them stand alone and they look great. I finished this section with handwritten words to add a personal touch and have a nice contrast to the block lettering of the alpha stickers.
I carried across the same idea for the inside by using the Amy Tangerine alpha stickers for the ‘Happy Anniversary’ and then used my Martha Stewart button paper punch. This not only punches the adorable and perfectly round buttons but embosses the edge to give a beautiful third dimension to them, just like real buttons – what more could you want!?
And…of course gave it the Eliston Button stamp of approval on the back!
I carried across the punched buttons to the envelope and addressed it by hand in a playful font across the whole envelope and sealed the envelope with a silver button sticker and three stripes of Washi Tape that were in keeping with the Anniversary theme.
