Button Colour Adventure – Part 3 – Christmas 2014 Edition

Button Colour Adventure at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Hello Buttoneers! Can you believe that the last Button Colour Adventure was right back in September!? Blimey! Where has this year gone? Here are Part One and Part Two

As I was wandering around like a lost child at the start of my Christmas shopping (I am hopeless until I buy my first gift and then I turn in to super shopper and get really organised! Anyone else like this?) I was taken in by the magic of Christmas.

I am always mesmerised by the lights, the sparkly decorations and the colours of Christmas that surround me wherever I go…

…So what better than to document them this year in a Button Colour Adventure.

It will be interesting to see if/how they change over the years too, to possibly see tends and waves in styles and designs, to see whether or not I can resist buying one of those teal glass bottles to stand next to one of those gorgeous glittery trees that I may just have to purchase, or indeed resist the temptation of buying one of those adorable Christmas gnomes!

We shall see, but for now, be swept away with me on a trail of colour, glitter and Christmas imagination…Button Colour Adventure – Part 3 – Christmas 2014 Edition at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Workspace Wednesday – Weave It To Me…

Workspace Wednesday at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Weave it to me (see what I did there!?) to buy a wooden peg loom when I left college and then totally forget about it.

Weave it to me (I am still loving the pun!) to only remember it until I came up against the letter ‘L’ in Photo-a-Day October 2014 that I had made in to my Eliston Button A to Z of Crafts (#elistonbuttonatozofcrafts) project on Instagram.

Weave it to me (okay…okay…I’ll stop now!) to have to re-learn it for my photo and then fall madly in love with weaving again.

Seriously, everything WILL be woven!!

This is the original photo from the project. I was half way through and was using small balls of left over wool and playing around with stripes and blocks of colour. I absolutely love the purple flecked wool and the burnt orange chunky wool…

I also love how (unintentionally) the deep red wool against the fluffy white wool looks like father Christmas’ trouser leg…bring on the Christmas weaving inspiration!

Hello Buttoneers! About a week after we moved house, we popped into town for supplies and of course this meant I had to pop into a few charity shops! On my thrifty adventure I came across five bags of buttons! Buttons!! Who throws away buttons!? So, naturally I had to buy save them.

I got them home with high hope of organising them and my imagination running wild with the possibilities of crafty makes and finding vintage beauties to cherish forever. However, the move was bigger than we could have ever imagined and they got put to one side in the Eliston Button Headquarters…until now! AND, I got to play around with a little bit of stop motion animation! It was super fun and I am still learning but I am proud of my first attempt!

Embroidery Thread Art

For my last ‘Workspace Wednesday’ post before taking a little midweek break (you can read about how I am talking a Wednesday blog post spring break to help my blog posts blossom and my creative ideas bloom here on my 50th blog post!) I showed you how I organised my embroidery thread on to pegs for easy access and pretty storage. Whilst I was taking the photographs for this post I had a flash of creative inspiration!

I love how the beautiful coloured embroidery threads look together on the pegs and thought how wonderful they would look in groups of similar colours.

I began playing around with this idea for a while and then other things came up and brooches were to be made and it sat in the corner of my mind reserved for lovely ideas that may never see the light of day or come to any sort of fruition. That is until my lovely Fiancé bought me a giant pack of 100 skeins of embroidery thread from Dunelm Mill for only £12.99! What a Barry bargain!

They seemed to look far too beautiful in the packaging to open them but I was eager to put them into rainbow order (I am a little super organised like that)

Autumn Glitter and I’m No Quitter

www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Love is in the leaves…do do dodo do do dooo

Autumn…I love it. The crunching of leaves, the glittering reds, oranges and browns, the coloured landscapes, the hot take away coffee’s sat in the chilly park, the acorns and horse chestnuts…The first sign of Autumn and I was there, coat in hand, camera in the other, at the front door ready to embrace its vibrant beauty.

This is as far as this post got at the start of October.

I realise I am posting this Autumn post in December now. Autumn wasn’t such a great Season for me in my personal life. I very almost decided to hit this blog lark on the head before I had even made it public.

I feared it was too late, too much commitment and too much scheduling in such an uncertain terrain.

I feared that I didn’t have it in me, that I couldn’t do it, that I was never ever going to be able to compete with the fabulous bloggers out there that just seemed to have it all together.

But I think that’s what turned it around. Continue reading
