Workspace Wednesday – Studio Update – Part 3

Workspace Wednesday at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Wowee!! A Workspace Wednesday post you say!? No way!? Haha! It has been a while and I wanted to just pop in to share a little mini tour of the new Eliston Button Headquarters and would you believe it – it’s a Wednesday and it’s my Workspace! Hurrah! Also, what do you think of the new banner!? Snazzy huh!? It was definitely time for a change especially as the workspace in the old banner isn’t even my workspace anymore!

So, if you are a newbie Buttoneer or even just a bit forgetful (that’s you Saree!) there is a bit of catching up to do. In a nutshell, my fiancé and I bought our first bought house together after renting for almost 10 years (Blimey!) the day after my birthday (and the day after the completion of my 27 before 27 blog challenge and the opening of the Eliston Button Esty Shop!) last June (nice and stressful!) Over the last 9 months we had house problems and various other issues (not with each other!) so my studio became a slow process of trial and error, seeing what worked, unpacking and repacking just to have to unpack again, until today. Over this time I have also shared little snippets of the Eliston Button Headquarters in Part One and Part Two of my mini studio updates in my Workspace Wednesday posts, but this is the most up-to-date. Things have been moved and changed and shuffled around so much that I hardly recognise the older photos of this space and it feels a life time ago that my studio was in a bedroom at our old rented house (I really need to finish the studio and update that page!)

So, I am so excited to share with you some little doses of my creative space to keep you going until I am all done and can reveal the whole thing (for the love of chocolate, let that be soon!) which is more than likely going to be when I have (hopefully) completed my Create 28 blog challenge and have some more free time my life back!

For now, grab a cup of tea and explore the Eliston Button Headquarters and think of it as an aperitif to the main dose of my crafty sanctuary!

Workspace Wednesday – Weave It To Me…

Workspace Wednesday at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Weave it to me (see what I did there!?) to buy a wooden peg loom when I left college and then totally forget about it.

Weave it to me (I am still loving the pun!) to only remember it until I came up against the letter ‘L’ in Photo-a-Day October 2014 that I had made in to my Eliston Button A to Z of Crafts (#elistonbuttonatozofcrafts) project on Instagram.

Weave it to me (okay…okay…I’ll stop now!) to have to re-learn it for my photo and then fall madly in love with weaving again.

Seriously, everything WILL be woven!!

This is the original photo from the project. I was half way through and was using small balls of left over wool and playing around with stripes and blocks of colour. I absolutely love the purple flecked wool and the burnt orange chunky wool…

I also love how (unintentionally) the deep red wool against the fluffy white wool looks like father Christmas’ trouser leg…bring on the Christmas weaving inspiration!

Workspace Wednesday – ‘Daisy Daisy’

'Workspace Wednesday' at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

On my workspace this Wednesday is my first felt brooch for my ’27 Before 27′ blog challenge. After a visit to my local fabric shop on Friday after posting about the start of my challenge, I found myself totally inspired by these beautiful vintage-style pearl and gold coloured buttons. Saying I love then seems like an understatement and I am so glad I bought them – in fact I actually bought the last 12 in the shop because I couldn’t bear them selling out and I didn’t own them all! Thank god they didn’t have thousands, although I am sure I will regret saying that when I have used them all up.

Maybe I will just keep one to sit on my desk and look ever so pretty!
