Create 28 – No.1 - Gift Tags at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Hello there Buttoneers! After a week hating technology for failing me (seriously my phone and laptop in quick succession) I am back with No.1 in my Create 28 craft blog challenge! How exciting!

If you missed my post, I am starting a brand new birthday challenge. Much like last years ’27 before 27′ blog challenge, I will be making 28 different crafty items for the Eliston Button Etsy Shop before I turn 28 in June. You can read more about the crafty goodness over here

Anyhoo, without further ado my lovelies…GIFT TAGS!

The idea for No.1 out of 28 came to me when I was wrapping my Christmas presents and searched everywhere for pretty gift tags to complete the beautifully wrapped goodies. I just couldn’t find anything that I liked and then it hit me…duh! Come on Crafty Kid!

So I made my own and loved them. So naturally the huge crafty part of my little brain started running away with ideas and designs and colours and patterns.

I was excited. That right there was how I knew I wanted HAD to make more of them for the first crafty project for my Etsy shop.

It has been a while after the stresses of last year since I have felt creative and excited about it, I was so happy to be back there.

I broke down my ten thousand (okay…okay…maybe it wasn’t quite that many!) ideas and simplified them to using brown/kraft coloured tags and a crisp white ink to create a range of tags that I am proud of. Each design is of something that means something to me and can be so versatile for each occasion, celebration or even when you treat yourself!

I have six different designs so far and still can’t pick a favourite! I’ll see what you think… Continue reading

A Creative Card

A Creative Card at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

Last week it was my lovely friend Charlie’s birthday and I wanted to make her a handmade card so that it was more personal and special. To be honest I really struggle to find cards that are just a little bit different in high street shops. And, well it’s not like I don’t have a ton of crafty goodness hanging around the studio now is it!?

After all, Happiness is Handmade.

It also meant I got to play around with my old scrapbook supplies as well, which I miss doing as I am having a year off the commitment of ‘scrapbooking the everyday’ to launch this blog and my future creative biz. So happiness all round I would say and I wanted to show you all what I created as I was pretty darn chuffed with it.

I love love love doilies so this was my starting point. They add a really subtle prettiness, especially when paired with pearls!

I then wanted to add a real pop of colour and this docrafts® Papermania paper flower from their ‘Capsule Collection’ was just the trick and had a pre-made hole in the centre that was just crying out for a pastel pink brad.

Workspace Wednesday ‘Minion Madness’ at www.elistonbutton.com - Eliston Button - That Crafty Kid

As a great stocking filler prezzie at Christmas my parents gave me this little guy to make as they know my love for these little minions and my love of Lego. This kit is actually made by Loz® and is called Diamond Blocks and before you get stressed at the similarity to Lego, I should tell you that these are tiny at a mere 5mm tall! They are adorable! So, he has been on my workspace this week…

I thoroughly enjoyed following the instructions and putting him together layer by layer. This got a bit tricky as the pieces are so small but I persevered and after re-starting a couple of times, got into the swing of it and started concentrating a bit more!  It took a long time to build but it was great fun and lovely to do something a bit different. Check out this mini time-lapse video of the build… Continue reading

Happy New Year Everyone! As you can see there is nothing on my workspace this Wednesday as it is New Years Day and I am taking a blogging break over the Christmas and New Years holidays but I just wanted to drop in and say hello! I am seriously enjoying my break and spending lots of fun time with my fiancé, but am looking forward to throwing myself head first into this blog and learning a lot along the way! I am excited for the fresh start, the blank pages and the potential this year holds.

May you all find happiness, laughter and adventure this year.

How it all began!

So as you can see I was cute! haha…i’m kidding…a little bit…As you can see I was always an adventurer, always excited about exploration of new things and things that excite me and always smiling. This is somewhat true to me now.

I am always adventuring whether it be in art and crafts or in my life.
